The Northern Tour is an event where a group of ridiculously bad golfers and punters (but quite good drinkers) spend the week after the Melbourne Cup somewhere on the Murray river chasing the elusive white ball around.

Early Ins and Outs
Well, it looks like we are losing a sparrow and probably a C.Simpson, but they may be replaced with last year's recalcitrants - Big Mike and Kingy although at this stage nothing is definite. Either of you two boys like to comment?
Well, that's pretty easy. Given that the rules are your best round from the first 3 days plus your round on the last day (ie, you HAVE to play on the last day to be counted), I would work around that - or lobby for a change in the rules, but I would think it's unlikely that you would get agreement to change that. Even the non-traditionalists (ie everyone who isn't Jack) tend to agree with it.
I've decided its time for another visit over east, and I've provisionally booked flights, so please count me in if there's a spot going. After practicing beer drinking from tiny wee glasses in Melbourne, I'll probably travel up to Echuca with Kingy, think he would prefer to travel up first thing on the morning of Monday the10th, then play at Rich River in the afternoon. The last night in Echuca would be Thursday?? Staying at the same place as 2 years ago?
PS Now playing off 12 - a genuine Golflink handicap.
Sounds good. We had you penciled in with the 2B anyway so that won't be a problem. I'm sure our illustrious leader will be in touch shortly.
To confirm. Yep, last golf day is Thursday. Most people tend to leave on the Friday morning. Accommodation is the same place as your last visit. See accommodation
Is the NT start day on a Monday again this year?
ReplyDeleteI'm quite keen to come over from Perth this year. What's the deal, is it based at Echuca and playing at Rich River casino and golf club again?
ReplyDeleteYep, it's all happening at Echuca. The keen punters are arriving on Sunday, first round kicks off Monday.
ReplyDeleteSo the minimalists among the crew (like, say, Vaughn) should plan on which days?
